23.Sep.2019

  • About 600,000 travellers, including 150,000 Britons, were left stranded, leading the British government to begin the largest peacetime repatriation effort in history.
  • The tour operator was still scrambling to secure an additional £200 million (roughly $US249 million USD) in emergency funding on Sunday. The effort was apparently unsuccessful.
  • Stranded passengers can find more information at the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s website, or its 24-hour hotline: 0300 303 2800 from the UK and Ireland, and +44 1753 330 330 from overseas.
